CANTERBURY AREA
The Pilgrims Rest is the perfect base from which to explore the local area or as a stepping stone on a journey to Europe via the ferry ports of Dover or Ramsgate, or the Eurotunnel at Folkestone.
For those looking closer to home Canterbury is a World Heritage Site with the Cathedral and The City of Canterbury itself more than worthy of a long weekend or midweek visit.
For the sporting we have a number of Golf Courses on our doorstep, with Canterbury Golf Course only a mile away and Broome Park Golf Course approximately five miles away. We are also within easy reach of Sandwich and The Royal St Georges Golf Course the venue for the Open Golf Championship in 2011.
For the cricket lover the home of the Kent Cricket Team is the St Lawrence cricket ground in Canterbury.
For those that just want a few quiet days away then the countryside of Kent is just beyond our door, although with Howletts Wild Animal Park only a couple of miles away you do occasionally hear some more unusual animal noises.
